What Can We Do Together?

Türkçe | English

If you share the principles of the Workers’ Associations and would like to do something with us, we would be pleased to hear from you. However, we also understand that not everyone has enough time and motivation to actively participate in meetings and activities. Even so, there is a lot we can do together.

  1. For starters, you can take a look at our article ‘What Is The Workers’ Associations?’ and the “Basic Texts” section, where we explain our ideas on various topics. You can help us to spread our ideas and discuss them with more people. Therefore, if you want to act with us, if you agree with our ideas or find them worth discussing, you can pass them on to other people in your circles and discuss these ideas with them. Of course, we are always open to discussion if you think that our texts are missing or incorrect.
  2. You can write about your problems in the workplace, your suggestions for struggle or your ideas as a worker on different social problems. We do not have to completely agree with what you write, but it must not contradict with our basic ideas. We would be happy to publish them on our website as long as they do not contradict the principles we stand for.
  3. For us, the most important thing is not that everyone ‘joins us’, but that they try to form associations, that is, informal horizontal organisations, in their workplaces and fight for their problems. We are ready to exchange ideas with anyone who tries to do this, who thinks about what they can do or how to start doing it; to exchange experiences, and to provide any kind of support needed in this regard to the best of our ability and means.
  4. Unlike the official unions, all activities of the Workers’ Associations are voluntary. In other words, there are no ‘professional’ staff among us. Nevertheless, we have and will have various expenses, from printing propaganda materials such as stickers and leaflets to solidarity with workplace struggles such as strikes. Therefore, you can support the work we are doing and plan to do with financial support to the extent of your abilities.
  5. If all of this is not enough for you and you want to do more, you can join us. For this, we would first of all like to know that we are in agreement on the ideas we stand for, and then we would like to get to know and trust you. At this point it would be useful to look again at our article ‘Confidentiality, Anonymity and Building Collective Identity in Workplace Struggle’.

With Whom We Do Not Act Together?

Workers’ Associations is an organisation of workers. However, those who are not currently working, such as the unemployed and students, can also take part in this organisation as part of the working class. On the other hand, those who are not wage earners – that is, those who work for themselves – can also take part in the Workers’ Associations in various ways and support our work. However, we have some clear criteria for those with whom we will not act. Of course, bosses, even if they are small business owners, and managers who have the power to fire others in their workplaces cannot be part of the Workers’ Associations. Nor can those who work in state repressive organs, such as police officers, professional soldiers, prosecutors or judges, or paid bureaucrats of official unions join the Workers’ Associations. Finally, persons who openly violate the principles we stand for, who behave in a racist, sexist, etc. way, are also not allowed in the Workers’ Associations.
